How to Help your ADHD Child/Teen Stay Organized!

The thing about ADHD is that the brain moves so fast, it has a hard time slowing down.  That can make school, and life, feel challenging.  That’s why I am so excited to tell you about this academic planner!  It can help ADHD brains, and really all brains, improve time management and organizational skills.  And yes, I’m aware that school is winding down, however these planners sell out fast, so I wanted to get the information out to you as soon as possible so that your student is prepared for the 2024/2025 school year.

As a student, it can be hard to keep it all together. Homework, school, work, sports, extracurricular activities and let’s not forget friends and family. It’s easy for things to fall to the wayside without a little help.  So let’s help your student manage their time and build core life skills with this academic planner.

Why use an Academic Planner?

Our digital world has removed opportunities for kids to learn necessary skills for planning, prioritizing, and organizing.  Students must find assignments and test dates in digital spaces – no, it’s not all bad because at least they have a space to go find it.  When students write things down in a planner though, they involve various brain skills.  They have to:

  • listen and/or read what the teacher identifies for homework, which requires focus and attention,
  • write it in the planner on the right day, which requires the ability to visualize the week,
  • identify and organize materials needed to complete the homework, which requires organization skills, and
  • figure out when during the week the homework will get completed, which requires planning and prioritizing.

Order Out of Chaos: Let’s Get Your Student Organized

Order out of Chaos has created the Academic Planner: A Tool for Time Management specifically designed to help students map their time and see where time is spent or needs to be spent.  For an effective planner, it is best to see your week at a glance and record all assignments and time commitments (even plans with friends). This will allow them to know what they need to do AND when they have time to PLAN to get things done.

Available in two sizes, Order out of Chaos’ Academic Planners are “Products Designed with Students in Mind”.  For more information on the Academic Planner: A Tool for Time Management, click here.  Swabey Family Counselling is an affiliate for this planner.
